The project responds to the pressing need for education in Mexico.
Study location: Juriquilla Querétaro.
The project concept grew from the idea of creating organic circulation routes.
The entire school campus faces a central park, creating a welcoming environment with radial circulation routes that make moving through it an engaging activity.
The architectural project occupies an irregularly shaped, almost flat site with little vegetation, beside the Fray Junipero Serra ring road.
We proposed separate buildings, aiming to minimise their footprint and provide more green space.
The buildings have irregular forms and range from one to three levels, according to their architectural programme.
The kindergarten occupies the ground floor and first level. It has a playful form combining an "S" shape with a radial layout. This is where the design departs most clearly from conventional programmes.
The form has a forward-looking character and, most importantly, is highly FUNCTIONAL.
It was very important to us to understand how the educational programmes would relate to the building's operation without becoming dull or conventional. Understanding the programme and the children's curiosity led us to a highly functional, enjoyable building.
The result is a building with a very organic form that breaks with conventional ways of thinking.
